Airport and AP-7 Congestion

The congestion on the AP-7 once again brings to the table a debate that can no longer be postponed: how to finance, manage and modernize our infrastructure to serve the future.

“On the AP-7, tolls alone are no longer enough. The priority is the expansion of this strategic highway. Besides being key for Catalonia, it is Spain’s main economic corridor, as it also connects Andalusia, Murcia and the Valencian Community with France and the rest of Europe.”

As reported by La Vanguardia, CCIES, Chamber of Concessionaires of Infrastructure, Equipment and Public Services, has been advocating for the need to recover the concession model and move towards pay-per-use formulas that can mobilize the investment needed to expand, maintain and modernize our road network. This evolution must be accompanied by sustainable financing models consistent with the principles promoted by Europe, such as “the user pays” and “the polluter pays.”
